PROGRAMS OF STUDY


The Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy offers five major programs of study and nine minors:

  • Planning and Public Policy major (762, 762D) -- Bachelor of arts (B.A.) degree 

  • Health Administration major (501, 501D) --  Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree

  • Public Health major (832, 832D) -- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree

  • Public Policy major (833, 833D) -- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree

  • Urban Planning and Design major (971, 971D) -- Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree

  • Minors in:

    • Planning and Public Policy

    • Health Administration

    • Public Health

    • Public Policy

    • Urban Planning & Design

    • Public Administration & Management

    • Urban Studies

    • Medical Ethics & Health Policy

    • Disability Studies

All of the majors are available to students who directly transfer into the Bloustein School, as well as to students in the School of Arts and Sciences. Students in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences are eligible to pursue the public health major.

  • Bloustein School direct-admit students are permitted to double major or major/minor across programs except as noted below.

  • Students in SAS are allowed to declare a Bloustein School major/minor combination except as noted below.

  • Students in SEBS are allowed to declare the Public Health major with a Bloustein School minor.

  • Students in a Rutgers-New Brunswick professional school need permission from their dean's office to declare more than one Bloustein School program.

  • Students in the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy may not declare a Bloustein School major.


    Restrictions of major and minor combinations:

  • Planning and Public Policy majors may NOT declare the Urban Studies (975), Public Policy (833), and Urban Planning and Design (971) minors. Also, PPP majors may NOT double major in Public Policy or Urban Planning and Design.

  • Public Policy majors may NOT declare the Planning and Public Policy major or minor programs.

  • Urban Planning and Design majors may NOT declare the Planning and Public Policy major or minor or the Urban Studies minor.

Exceptional, well-prepared students who are admitted to the Bloustein School may be invited by the faculty to pursue dual-degree programs in the following areas:

  • B.A. or B.S./M.P.H. for public health

  • B.A. or B.S./ M.P.P. for public policy

  • B.A. or B.S./M.C.R.P. for city and regional planning
